چکیده

A method to assess the purity of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) bulk samples based on Raman spectroscopy is reported. The new method has higher reproducibility and quantitative precision than those previously used. It consists of measuring the G-band intensity of liquid suspensions of SWCNT samples as a function of solid concentration. A simple equation is proposed in which one of the two adjustable parameters is the SWCNT purity. The method has been applied to a series of samples of similar characteristics, but varying quality. The results are compared to those obtained on the same series of samples using standard analytical techniques, including electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis and optical absorption. 2010 Elsevier Ltd. Cold wall CVD generation of single-walled carbon nanotubes and in situ Raman scattering measurements of the growth stage

Catalytic CVD generation of high-purity single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) without use of an electric furnace or a hot-filament is demonstrated. High-purity SWNTs were generated from alcohol used as a carbon source with Fe/Co particles supported on zeolite by Jouleheating of a silicon base plate. This technique was applied for an in situ measurement of Raman scattering during the growth sta...

Enhanced thermal conductivity of ethylene glycol with single-walled carbon nanotube inclusions

In the present work, we report measurements of the effective thermal conductivity of dispersions of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) suspensions in ethylene glycol. The SWNTs were synthesized using the alcohol catalytic chemical vapour deposition method. Resonant Raman spectroscopy was employed to estimate the diameter distribution of the SWNTs based on the frequencies of the radial breathi...

Structure-assigned optical spectra of single-walled carbon nanotubes.

Spectrofluorimetric measurements on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) isolated in aqueous surfactant suspensions have revealed distinct electronic absorption and emission transitions for more than 30 different semiconducting nanotube species. By combining these fluorimetric results with resonance Raman data, each optical transition has been mapped to a specific (n,m) nanotube structure. Op...

Single Walled Carbon Nanotube Effects on Mixed Convection heat Transfer in an Enclosure: a LBM Approach

The effects of Single Walled Carbon Nanotube (SWCNT) on mixed convection in a cavity are investigated numerically. The problem is studied for different Richardson numbers (0.1-10), volume fractions of nanotubes (0-1%), and aspect ratio of the cavity (0.5-2.5) when the Grashof number is equal to 103. The volume fraction of added nanotubes to Water as base fluid are lowers than 1% to make dilute ...

Investigation of Crack Resistance in Single Walled Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Polymer Composites Based on FEM

Carbon nanotube (CNT) is considered as a new generation of material possessing superior mechanical, thermal and electrical properties. The applications of CNT, especially in composite materials, i.e. carbon nanotube reinforced polymer have received great attention and interest in recent years. To characterize the influence of CNT on the stress intensity factor of nanocomposites, three fracture ...
